Day 3

Well today was much better.  In communications class we did an exercise where you have to sit back to back and you have to give instructions to the person who is sitting behind you on how to draw a certain picture.  Needless to say we didnt do so well. It was fun though! I am thinking about trying to test out since I have had numerous communication classes.  We will see.

My second class was Restorative Art.  We learned a lot of definitions but they were interesting ones.  Like the definition of embalming classic and contemporary.  We also learned that when reconstructing to help with size the size of the ear is the same size as the nose and that the distance from the top of the forehead to the top of the bridge of the nose is the same distance as the nose to the chin.  God made us pretty even it seems.  There were a few other ones that are escaping my mind right now. My professor is the President of the College and the best restorative Art person in the Nation!!! He must be if he is going to teach me to make body parts out of wax so that they are recognizable! LOL!

Then we had accounting.  The cool thing about this college is that we don't have to leave the classroom all day.  The professors come to us.   Back to accounting....All I can say is AGGGGGGHHHHHH! Does anyone understand T accounts?  I was so lost.  It didnt help that this kid behind me whose Daddy owns a funeral home was sitting behind me and talking to the guy beside him.  He was so distracting.  He is 19 and drives a mercedes.  Nice kid but definitely has the I really dont need to be here attitude.  Guess I will be reading a lot of accounting at home this weekend.

Last class today (because one of the professors wasnt making it in) was Embalming.  We learned a lot of definitions in there too.  We also learned that you have to get permission to embalm from the family, it is just  not automatic!  You only embalm if it is an open casket.  Otherwise no embalming is necessary so the family does not have to pay.  If it is a direct burial or cremation or a closed casket and a refrigeration unit is available no embalming is necessary! Interesting stuff.

Last we had a class meeting concerning class funds, at the end of the year right before graduation we have a banquet which the class has to pay for so we were talking about fundraisers and bake sales and stuff.  We even had a dress down day today for $2.00.  I thought I was away from "civilian clothes" day when I retired! LOL!

I am getting ready to go home for the weekend, kids will be going home as well, so when I come back it will be just me.  That will be tooooo quiet.

Talk to you Monday!
